Mark your calendars! My bday is august 5th this thursday. Soooooo on Friday I will be having a party/end of the summer get together. If you know me you know that ive been getting pretty tired of houston so why not do something differnt. So it will be taking place in galveston somewhere on west beach at a beach house my parents rented. Er'y body is invited. Im thinking we should have some fun on the beach and later on watch a movie maybe dance depending on how lazy or lazy i might be this week. And afterwards sleep over? If you have any questions you can call me and i probably wont know but call me anyway. Um if there are any questions your parents have mi padres will be around. Yup so thats it.

rose @ 11:50 AM [link]

yay friendship ^^
so, on the optimistic side,
what good are relationships without fights?
we learn more about each other, we learn more about ourselves.
i had a conversation about that last night with one of my good friends.
sometimes we learn the most from disagreements, and it makes the feeling of making up so much better!

so here's a question that comes out of the situation that is interesting to think about--

is a relationship with someone -- who is totally agreeable and very accomodating-- a good relationship?
or is it really a more "healthy" thing to have fights, even if it causes unhappiness?

everyone have an excellent day :D

Okay, I was (obviously) going to try to just keep steamrolling over this whole thing, but I guess I feel kinda stupid avoiding it now. Without pointing fingers or taking sides, I will say that I felt much more comfortable without them on here because I think this is a forum for all of us to stay connected. Clearly, this issue is not going to unite anyone, but rather we are already fighting amongst each other. So if possible, I suggest that everyone just drop it. We are friends, and there's no reason to let something like a blog get us up in arms.

As for the issue of censorship at CNet... Well, it's definitely not something that anybody wants, if I'm correct. So let's just say that this anonymous' person decision was a mistake that overstepped their rights, and move on.

i wasn't complaining, i just wanted to know if there was a specific reason that someone changed the status of those posts to "drafts"-- i was not making a demand that the posts be published again, either.
just wanting to understand, that's all.

but thanks, greg.

Mark Morrison "Return Of The Mack"

Oooh...Oh....Come on...Ooh, yeah...

(Verse 1)
Well, I tried to tell you so
But I guess you didn't know
As the saddest story goes
Baby, now I got the flow
'Cause I knew it from the start
Baby, when you broke my heart
That I had to come again
And show you that I'm with

You lied to me
All those times I said that I loved you
You lied to me
Yes, I tried, yes, I tried
You lied to me
Even though you know I'd die for you
You lied to me
Yes, I cried, yes, I cried

(Chorus 1)
Return of the Mack
It is
Return of the Mack
Come on
Return of the Mack
Oh, my God
You know that I'll be back
Here I am
Return of the Mack
Once again
Return of the Mack
Top of the world
Return of the Mack
Whatch my flow
You know that I'll be back
Here I go

(Verse 2)
So, I'm back up in the game
Running things like half my swang
Lettin' all the people know
That I'm back to run the show
'Cause what they didn't know was wrong
And all the nasty things you've done
So, baby, listen carefully
While I sing my comeback song

You lied to me
'Cause she said she'd never turn on me
You lied to me
But you do, but you do
You lied to me
All this pain you said I'd never feel
You lied to me
But I do, but I do do do

(Chorus 2)
Return of the Mack
It is
Return of the Mack
Hold on
Return of the Mack
Don't you know
You know that I'll be back
Here I go
Return of the Mack
Oh, little girl
Return of the Mack
Once more, girl
Return of the Mack
Up and down
You know that I'll be back
Round and round

(Interlude)
Ahhh...Mark
Stop worrying about your big break

You lied to me
'Cause she said she'd never turn on me
You lied to me
But you do, but you do
You lied to me
All this pain you said I'd never feel
You lied to me
But I do, but I do do do

(Chorus/Vamp)

I stole this link from Jess (aka Jessica, my fellow ex-Belle).

BBC NEWS | South Asia | US Muslim woman defies hardliners:

"She entered the local mosque through the front door and dared to pray alongside men, an act that has triggered heated discussions among America's Muslim community.

An all-male 'tribunal' of the mosque in Morgantown, West Virginia, wants to banish Ms Nomani because they think she is a frequent trouble-maker."

A trouble-maker for wanting to pray? Interesting...

They argue that women should only be allowed to enter a mosque through the back door, pray from the balcony and quietly go home. [...] Ms Nomani comes from a deeply religious Muslim family, but one which she says tries to embody the spirit of Islam rather than the outward symbols such as wearing veils.

So I guess that's the heart of the issue: do you follow the spirit or the letter of a religion?

I personally would argue that following the spirit is what counts, because many old rituals/creeds are outdated, just like property laws referring to oxen and such. But then again, for some religions, I know that customs play a very large part in the operation of the faith.

But what if those customs are inherently unfair, unequal?

Okay maybe it's just me, but I find this kinda dumb. Even if I don't like Harry Potter myself...

The New York Times > Books > 'Harry Potter' Inspires a Christian Alternative:

"G. P. Taylor, an Anglican vicar, onetime roadie for the Sex Pistols and former all-around sinner, was roaring across the Yorkshire moors on his Yamaha XV1100 in a lightning storm when the idea for his hit Christian children's book, 'Shadowmancer,' came to him.

Like some other committed Christians, he had been disturbed by the amount of witchcraft and the occult in children's literature. 'Harry Potter,' for instance. The best-selling author J. K. Rowling gives too much power to the forces of evil in her books, he told parishioners. Well, one congregant replied, why not write your own book then?"

Happy Birthday Steffi!

Glad you made it out to soccer yesterday! : )

Okay, I don't mean to divert the conversation that Justin just started, but I honestly have nothing to say about it 'cause I haven't watched Jeopardy in like... six years? Sorry!

I've had this in my Yahoo Inbox for a few days now though, waiting to post about it.

The New York Times > National > New Illinois Law Permits Organ Donors With H.I.V.:

Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich of Illinois signed a bill on Thursday allowing people who are H.I.V. positive to donate organs to others infected with H.I.V., a provision that he called the first of its kind in the United States.

State Representative Larry McKeon, the Chicago Democrat who wrote the bill, said the decision was certain to save the lives of people with H.I.V., the virus that causes AIDS, who are waiting for liver transplants but have always been barred, as is everyone, from receiving donations from those with the virus. Mr. McKeon, 60, is himself H.I.V. positive and said he had been for 15 years or more. He said he was proud now to check off the box on the back of his Illinois driver's license, agreeing to become something he had not been allowed to be: an organ donor.

I guess this is a good thing? I mean, we can always use more organ donors, right? But of course, allowing HIV positive people to donate is a risk. So my question, I guess, is is it worth it?

It will, supposedly, save lives of HIV positive people who ordinarily are low on the priority list for receiving donations, and that, I think, is a worthwhile cause. (Who are we to say that their lives are less valuable, less of a priority, than anyone else's?)

The most serious questions Mr. McKeon said he received were related to safety. Some colleagues wondered: How can a doctor ensure that an H.I.V.-negative patient does not accidentally receive the organ of someone with H.I.V.? And can there be any additional danger to those who already have HIV from a different strain of it?

So yeah.

And Angie just pointed out ('cause she's standing next to me right now) that it's a crime for HIV positive people to donate blood. So then, how does this affect that? Should they be allowed to donate blood for other HIV positive people too? Could we have separate blood banks for people with AIDS?

We (Angie & I) think it'd be difficult and possibly annoying to deal with the organization of it all. But then again, aren't low blood supplies always a danger? Isn't it better to have more blood than less?

Dunno. It's something to think about, anyway.

i already commented on ken jennings on my blog, but here you go, justin:

"i suppose if ken jennings weren't so freakin sincere and charismatic and un-arrogant, i'd get annoyed that he kept winning on Jeopardy. but i do think it's a little abnormal to know every useless bit of information that can be conceived. hahaha :] still, it's endearing in some way."

I'm gonna be out for a couple days, so I feel like starting up some chatter.

Anyone been jeopardy lately?  That Ken Jennings guy is freakin' amazing. 33 days in a row, owning his opponents before final Jeopardy most of the time.  Cool thing is, he's a winner, but NOT  a jerk.  Kind of hard to find.

So...what do you guys think??
