Wat up everybody, what do you guys think about the election so far? All this drama. If Bush wins I might have to take to the streets because of all the BS thats going on. Obviously i know its going to end up in the supreme court ecspecially since florida is being dumb again. In a mostly hispanic and black county they lost 60,000 absantee ballots and no one is being held accountable. How do you lose 60 thousand fckin ballots? Are you serious? Well we shall see only a couple of days away, yes days. Go vote even if u dont think u will be counted. Peace!

Even though it takes a clear position from the beginning, this article presents, I think, one of the more objective evaluations of our two candidates that I've seen: Economist.com | America's next president.

What's going on with everyone? It's mucho quiet here... :' (

Good article on Jon Stewart "ripping the hosts of CNN's Crossfire a new one" (as someone at my school put it): The New York Times > Arts > Television > TV Watch: No Jokes or Spin. It's Time (Gasp) to Talk.

And if you want to see the actual episode itself, you can supposedly find it here (I didn't bother clicking, 'cause the NYTimes article was enough for me):

This is from a family friend's Livejournal, but she's a doctor now and I found her take on the flu vaccine shortage pretty interesting. Dunno, if y'all will too, but here it is nonetheless: Forest Jade - Media pisses me off.

You're right, news does tend to be depressing. So how about something tech-y instead?

The New York Times > Technology > Identity Badge Worn Under Skin Approved for Use in Health Care:

The Food and Drug Administration has cleared the way for a Florida company to market implantable chips that would provide easy access to individual medical records.

The approval, which the company announced yesterday, is expected to bring to public attention a simmering debate over a technology that has evoked Orwellian overtones for privacy advocates and fueled fears of widespread tracking of people with implanted radio frequency tags, even though that ability does not yet exist.

[...]

In Applied Digital's vision, patients implanted with the chips could receive more effective care because doctors, other emergency-room personnel and ambulance crews equipped with Applied's handheld radio scanners would be able to read a unique 16-digit number on the chip.

The chip does not contain any records, but with the number, the care provider would be able to retrieve medical information about blood type, drug histories and other critical data stored in computers. The records could be easily updated.

What do you guys think? Does this freak you out? I know I definitely don't want that thing put into my body. O_o Blech! (Not to mention I basically never go to the doctor... Hehehe.)

It's quiet here.

Boy's murder reminds LA of disparity within their own city -- stuff like this makes me feel so fortunate, and yet so sad.

Homosexual man files suit against prison system which allowed him to be sold as sex slave during imprisonment -- it sounds pretty damn cruel and unusual to me; these are the harsh times in which we live.

Taiwan may have tested nuclear capabilities during the 1980s -- well, wouldn't that be stupid on Taiwan's part; David and Goliath to the Nth degree.
