HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!
[]

Kristan @ 7:30 PM [link]

Hey hey hey, boo to that!! >_< What's up with THIS? Where's the Rogers Pride?! Where are all the nerds/dorks who are proud of who/what they really are?? Maaaan...

Look guys, it's not that we're prudes or ignorant, we're just a little bit innocent. Why is that bad? I mean, do you really want to say that you've been addicted to drugs or gotten so wasted you puked all night or hooked up with 80 people in one weekend? *shrug* If that's your thing, go for it, but I personally am happy being open-minded enough to have fun and closed-minded enough to know what I do or do not want to do. And THAT is what I think of when I think of us being the Rogers group.

And har dee har har, John, about the Christmas presents. How was I supposed to know??
[]

Matt @ 6:14 PM [link]

I can proudly say that even though I'm from the "rogers clique" I doubt that many people think of me that way.

Kristan @ 8:16 PM [link]

We're gonna go with my numbering system here (and by we, I mean me) because I like it and it helps me organize my thoughts:

1 -- I don't know whether homosexuality is a choice or a genetic thing, I won't even guess, but I do know that I don't think it's natural: there are males and females in animals for a reason. BUT that doesn't mean I think it's wrong: it's your life, you can do what you please. (And I think there are homosexual animals too? Like, they were doing testing on sheep and cattle? But I could be wrong...) I've got NO beef with homosexuals.

2 -- Yeah, "Third World" has a negative connotation and is thus a horrible thing to put in a name of a program that seems so wonderful. But yeah, Bellaire is a "diverse" place racially -- however, I'm being exposed to all kinds of people (jerks, man-whores, seriously creepy stalker-types, druggies, etc.) that I never encountered before. So we shouldn't go around thinking we know it all, 'cause we sure as hell do not. (And I'm grateful that I never did.)

3 -- Yes, duh, girls have the stereotype of being more complicated/fickle, and stereotypes come from somewhere. But that doesn't mean it holds true for everyone, and I think you guys are pretty lucky to know us girls, 'cause we're some fairly rational, non-ditzy girls by comparison.

4 -- I don't think beauty can be quantified, either, I mean, not seriously. You can rate people -- we did it on our floor one night, hahaha -- but it's all fun and games, doesn't mean much. There are too many factors, too many personal preferences -- yes, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" -- yadda yadda. However, one thing the guys here are ADAMANT about is the difference between all the different terms: cute, pretty, beautiful, gorgeous, hot, etc. Cute = wholesome, pretty = attractive, beautiful = pretty AND awesome personality, gorgeous = REALLY PRETTY and decent personality, etc. So apparently there are very important distinctions, but yeah, not something that can be numerically quantified. It's all relative.

And Olivia, I totally did NOT understand the 'O with a penis' thing until Ann commented. Dood, I even asked my roommie and we couldn't figure it out. It was like, "Okay, Olivia's on crack..." But I got it now. (And I still think you're on crack. Hehehe.)
[]

rose @ 4:29 PM [link]

wow, not much time to talk about everything that's going on here because i have a midterm tomorrow, but i just wanted to disagree and say that i don't think every couple thinks they are the "best" couple. in fact, i know very few couples who think that.

i highly doubt that homosexuality is a decision.

also-- james brought up something yesterday. Do you guys think that beauty can be quantified? we had an argument-- i firmly believe that beauty isn't something you can give a number to.
[]

Angie @ 12:21 PM [link]

the purpose of that question:
many people believe that it is by choice that one chooses to be gay
(i think there are many medical studies that have been completed and are pending that perhaps may suggest othewise though)
the things is, you always ask, 'well, why did you become gay?'
but another way to look at it is, well, why did we become straight
i thought it was interesting
a while back left handed people were discriminated against because they were not the norm, and many were forced to use their right hand
now, it is commonly accepted, although the world still is predominantly right handed, so things are still mostly made that way
statistically the number of lefthanded people in the world is approximately the same as the number of gay people
(all this from my journalism class)

ann: thanks for the confident boost
but i think victoria's secret models have cleavage and a better body to model
if the program helped make the transistion easier, than it is postive, but the name is a bit insulting

i do not claim that we are a better couple than everyone else
on the contrary i see us as a very different couple, a very strange one
you will have to read
[]

Angie @ 12:47 AM [link]

a thought
ask yourself, when did you decide to be straight?

PDA deff matters on the situation:
-Around guy friends or friends that are girls or friends period eh dosnt matter.
-Older ppl. Ya, not much if any at all i dont like to scare them off.
-At Morehouse? Nope...its just a part of the mistique of the school, it just feels weird if u did it.
-I talk to my other half everyday.
-Plan romantic things? Like eating turkey at thanksgiving? That romantic?
-There shouldnt be any work involved, everything is out of enjoyment, and if u must describe it as work it would be equal
[]

Angie @ 1:46 PM [link]

if i want to be self-deprecating, then i will be....
(i think from the post before i am justified actually, it's kind of funny)
he he he, there goes my question

hmm, q, that's a perplexing question
you would assume that women do come off as more complicated because they act on emotions more
but with this whole metrosexual is hip thing, men are getting in touch with their feelings too
i think commonly, we talk about our feelings more, especially with other girls
or even other good guy friends, because we seek advice a lot and we also like to talk

my personal curiousity:
how are guys with public displays of affection, do they like it or hate it
or if they're in certain environments do they like or dislike it more
for instance, if you are with your friends, and your girlfriends is there, do you pda more or less

and for the people with the relationships, just how romantic are y'all
does anyone talk to their other every day
or plan romantic things
or none of that
does the girl do more work or the guy

--------------
in reading responses, it seems most would side to let it all out
but i like michael's response better, that it's okay to let things go unsaid
(then again i have a tendency to let things slide until later i hold it against a person...)
it's true, you don't need to express every feeling
but if it's an extreme emotion that has been repeatedly within you, then you should
but expressing feelings need not only be in words, like showing you care
by taking someone by the hand

sidenote: michael, can i call you something besides mikey, or do you really like that
maybe it's just me, but i can't bring myself to see you as mikey
i feel you're more regal
you should rent the laramie project, it deals with gay treatment

my mommy says i cannot eat after 9 p.m.
and that i'm going to get pudgy and not let my organs rest if i do
and that i need to protect my liver

and holy crap, micro sucks

dear greg,
you stink
you need some deodorant
and some soap
then you need to go through a car wash
have a nice day!
lots of love,
from a very good smelling angie

[]

quentin @ 11:46 AM [link]

For kristan's question. I agree with you somewhat, you shouldnt suppress emotions its not good for the body or mind for that matter. On the other hand you shouldnt just show all of your emotions. I think there has to be a balance. There is a time and place for everything. I know for one if I acted on every emotion I had, id probably be known as the meanest person ever around =). I dont know for me, I am in complete control over my emotions. Letting them out may feel better but it usually will have an adverse effect on other people. So yup, I just say keep them in check =P

Do you think girls have the stereotype of being more complicated than guys becuase they express their emotions more often? Yes? No? Maybe So?
[]

rose @ 8:06 AM [link]

thank you greg.
[]

Matt @ 12:42 AM [link]

That inflatable spider is cool. I wouldn't mind having one of those.
[]

Kristan @ 12:34 AM [link]

Angie, stop saying no one will answer, geez. (Yes, I'm going to call you on it: don't be self-deprecating. We do care about what you think about.)

Q: Is it wrong to suppress feelings?
My A: No. Well, there's a very fine line (isn't there always?) between maintaining control of your emotions and suppressing them. I mean, lashing out at everyone for every little thing is no good, nor is breaking down and crying at something silly, or going overboard with happiness or enthusiasm (like the need to spiritually cleanse the Floor Nemo who has been hugged by a half-naked man in a raunchy play -- but that's probably only something that happens on my floor...). So those things should be kept in check, to some degree. But repression is bad too, because then things build up and screw you up inside and/or explode at some point. All of which is bad. As usual, it's a matter of tightrope-walking that fine line.

And I dunno, "women" may not want everything, but I guess I'm a selfish ho, 'cause I do.
*shrug*
A little bit of everything, that is. ^_^

Yes, Ding, Matt, Greg, etc.: paying for a girl is chivalrous, very sweet, etc. To a point. At first, it's understandable, you wanna be a gentleman, make a good impression and whatnot. Good good. But after a while, man, it's a two-way relationship, why should a girl get to leech off a guy forever? It's got less to do with feminism than plain old fairness. If I eat $20 of food and you get water, why should you pay?

And as for Halloween, my favorite holiday -- I love seeing happy, cute little kids!! (even if they are grubbing for candy, hahaha) -- I'm going to be a... NINJA!!!! *grin* And I will be attacking someone as such, hehehe. So watch out!!

Oh, and there don't seem to be any Halloween traditions here, though we are going to decorate the floor. (I'm very worried about what one guy, Ryan, is planning...) Children from less privileged/safe areas are going to come trick-or-treating in our dorm, so we wanna make an impression: my roommate bought an 8-foot inflatable purple spider!!

Yes, we are a very weird lot... ^_^

Angie @ 11:10 PM [link]

i want to be a victoria's secret angel for halloween
but i don't have the guts to do that...we'll see

i'm not going to talk about baseball till next semester

it's good to know that a girl is taken care of,
but what makes a man is not the wallet
it's the care, the love, the concern
it's the 'i can and will make you happy'

i like to hope that chivalry is not dead
and as much as the girl will claim to care less about romance
they're lying, every girl likes a little romance
so i think girls like it if there's a nice dinner and flowers and if the guy pays
it's so traditional
what girl does not love a guy pampering her

although a girl's gotta take care of her man sometimes

women do not want everything, it's obvious
we do not want periods, pain through childbirth, the issues of looks/weight, etc...

another question that no one will answer: is it wrong to suppress feelings?
[]

quentin @ 1:45 PM [link]

Amen Matt, Amen.
[]

Matt @ 12:41 PM [link]

Rose, I gave you your chance to pay, but couldn't find your wallet. We know yall aren't helpless, moneyless little girls. It's always nice that you're willing to pay and it doesn't go unnoticed. But we're kinda 'ole fashion and believe the man is supposed to pay. So we do. I don't see why girls just can't be happy that we are paying for them.
[]

rose @ 9:20 AM [link]

uh. greg? when did you come to that conclusion? THIS WEEKEND? who did you learn that from? i hope not from me :]

hmph. women don't want EVERYTHING. we just want you to let us pay every once in a while so that we don't feel like helpless, moneyless little girls who can't fend for themselves AND their men. psh. i got a job and i'm willing to pay. *sticks out tongue* i know some girls here will agree.

HEY EVERYONE- what is everyone going to be for halloween???

who cares who wins the world series?! =P
[]

Thursday, October 23, 2003

Angie @ 11:02 PM [link]

i like the look, it's very simple but cool

has anyone here ever heard of the laramie project?
it deals with matthew shepard's death, a 22 year old student in wyoming who was killed from a gay hate crime, he was beaten profusely
you should rent the emmy award winning 'documentary' they made from it, it's pretty powerful

how crazy messed up is this world, when people can treat people like that

kat: have happiness, and a happy birthday

greg: when i see you tomorrow you sure as hell better have deodorant on

the question: no one at this age really knows what they want, besides the dream for success
i say, men know what they want, (here's my generalization) and that's a good looking women who can give them some something
women, i say, they think they want a good man with and a good relationship, but they don't really know, they could be just like men in wanting the physical attention too, so yeah they are confused
but when it comes down to it, there are going to be people in relationships, men and women, who are going to be confused, yet know they want to be in the relationship, there are people in love, they might not know exactly what they want from it or how everything is going to turn out, but they know that they're in love

as for the quote- women do fall more often, but i wouldn't say men fall harder, i think women do more then men, but i could be wrong

oh damn, the yankees sure as hell better win saturday, cause i say so

man, i want snow, we're here with 90 degree weather in austin, how freaking annoying is that?!

here's a question, but i doubt anyone will answer it:
how far should a journalist go to get the story, when is embedded reporters too much, when is a journalist's life not worth it to show the public what is going on out there, what does the public really need to know?

question 2: do you think a guy is more likely to hurt a girl's feelings, or a girl more likely to hurt a guy's feelings?
[]

quentin @ 7:42 PM [link]

hehe kidding.
[]

quentin @ 2:33 PM [link]

Why cut the crap? Everyone makes a stereotype and thus forms a generalization at some point, and if you dont think that u do...how naive of u. Anyways why not talk about it? Its not like its going away anytime soon =)
[]

quentin @ 1:30 PM [link]

wats up with these twins! first ann takes my smiley now rose takes my song (look at my blog last weeks post) ahhhhhhhhhhhh

rose @ 12:58 PM [link]

You think you've got it
Oh, you think you've got it
But got it just don't get it
Til theres's nothing at all (Ah!)
We get together
Oh, we get together
But separate's always better
When there's feelings involved (Oh!)
If what they say is 'nothing is forever,'
Then what makes
Then what makes
Then what makes
Then what makes
Then what makes (What makes? What makes?)
Love the exception?
So why oh, why oh
Why oh, why oh, why oh
Are we so in denial
When we know we're not happy here?

(Ya'll don't want to hear me
You just want to dance
Hey Ya.. Hey Ya
Hey Ya.. Hey Ya
Hey Ya.. Hey Ya
Hey Ya.. Hey Ya)

Hey! All right now!
Al lright now, fellas! (Yeah!)
Now what's cooler than being cool? (Ice cold!)
I can't hear ya!
I say what's, what's cooler than being cool? (Ice cold!)
all right all right all right all right all right all right all right all right all right all right all right all right

Shake it, sh-shake it (Oh oh!)
Shake it, sh-shake it
Shake it, sh-shake it
Shake it, shake it
Sh-shake it (Oh oh!)
Shake it like a polaroid picture

hahahhaa this song is great.

props to kristan for fixing it :D
[]

Kristan @ 10:19 AM [link]

Adam - Nah, just means you should have "o"s all the way across the text box.

Q - False. Neither men nor women know what they want. Men just think they do, and women not only admit that they don't know, they also change it all the time. Hehehe, it's all part of our evil plan to make your heads explode.

(Or not...)

And Rose/Greg, I like that: "Women fall more often, men fall harder." It's probably not 100% true, but I see the validity.
[]

Kristan @ 8:59 AM [link]

Okay, that took almost a freaking hour. Who ever though I'd be debugging HTML?!??!

Anyway, the ones to blame were...
*drum roll*
Stef and Matt

Hehe, it's all good, guys, but let's cut back on the over-repetition of characters (like "!!!!!!" or "AAAAA"). I mean, we can do it somewhat (as seen below, in the modified posts) but a whole string of characters without breaks (i.e. spaces) pushes the text box wider than our screens and gives us *look of disgust* side-scrolling.

Yeah, that was bothering me too, Rose, but I thought it was the pictures. Thanks for shrinking 'em! ^_^

Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATHERINE! ^_^

(I will get a birthday list up soon. VERY soon.)
[]

rose @ 12:35 AM [link]

yay, greg quoted me. wow, i can't believe you remember the things i say.

but sorry, just don't hate on daniel. daniel is awesome.
[]

rose @ 12:31 AM [link]

AHH the bottom scrollbar is driving me nuts. kristan, i know you fixed it, but the table is still a little too big for 1024x768... i tried fixing the pictures that have been posted (adjusting their sizes) but apparently it wasn't the pictures. i tried fixing the table and td widths but that didn't seem to help? i'm not sure. haha. but i took the liberty of adding a red shadow to the scrollbars because for such a long scrolling page, i like to see where i am on the page. hope that is okay. (i just realized that we all have admin status on here, haha)

rose @ 1:59 PM [link]

i have a suggestion- instead of making a banner that only takes up the left side, you could have something that covers the entire top, and then have a table for the names/URLS and then a table for the blog.
[]

Kristan @ 1:53 PM [link]

Alright, I'm not even gonna try to say that a little CMU girl owns this place--
OH WAIT, SHE DOES. *grin*

Not that it matters. Oh man, I'm so happy seeing -- well, "seeing" -- everyone here. I hope people keep joining, and talking, and yeah, 'cause this is great.

(Okay, okay, to be fair, Albert pays the bills for this place with me. But we all know I own him too, hehehe.)

*pat pat* for all the people who got dissed. You know it's outta love.

And Q's right, it's about time we got some testosterone up in here. (I agree with Angie, the design is kinda girly -- and heavy on the left -- so maybe I should make it more... masculine?)

see, greg, i'm not the only one. now you know the real reason why i asked matt to leave you behind this weekend when he drives here. i don't think i could bear seeing your face. cough.

NO WAY Matt, are you crazy?! I can't stand those uniforms!! The new emblem looks like something straight out of Buffy the Vampire Slayer!! The old one was way better, much more sports-team-y, and, coincidentally, designed by a family friend. So boo to the new one. >_<

Urgh, Olivia, you're wrong about it too, but I fixed your font for you anyway.

(Hehe, I'm soooo tolerant of opposing opinions, no?)

as far as i'm concerned with baseball is over for now. it's time for the nba to start making they're highlight reels again.
[]

justin @ 11:28 AM [link]

I got the petals thing!!!

IN the end, it's all so simple. I had to skim that second article though.

And I do mean skim. A couple sentences jumped out as major clues. All in all, a good 20 minutes wasted.

So, it's the Marlins vs. Yankees. America got exactly what they wanted to see. I mean, who wants to see the historical matchup Cubs vs. Red Sox??? Just goes to show money really can buy, well, everything. Including championships.

Hahahaha....Hilarious!!! Fun, not Freaky!

Must watch until the end.

Angie @ 8:03 PM [link]

yeah this weekend i watched so many games
there was the ut-ou one, where i knew we'd get slaughtered, but i was hoping for at least 17 points
we just got so easily knocked up
i'm not going to say anymore, but that mack brown cried

i caught the yankee-sox game, crazy man, that fourth quarter was messed up too
pedro martinez aiming at the head, and when the
and when don zimmer (yankees bench coach) charged and was knocked to the ground
yeah and that 'fan' was actually a fenway park groundskeeper, who attacked the yankee bullpen

for the womens world cup, i swear that sweden was going to win, their offensive was good
but then in overtime, lucky germany, too bad the us wasn't there

then i watched some lpga, tom's dad was actually there, it was in the woodlands
but i never did find out if gustenfen (sp?) actually won, she was 16 under par last i checked, approaching the 18th hole
but there was a questionable thing about her hitting a ball, so i don't know if she was penalized

The magic phrase(s) of college: Free food. Free icecream. Free T-shirts.

you like something under $5 for free from best buy??

click the link, create a new account. search your item, click the "add to cart" button, then it should take off $5 instantly (before tax :) ). You have to do this all in one browser, via the link. If for some reason this doesn't work, then sign out, delete cookies, clear history, then sign back in through the link. Find item, click "add to cart", then fill out info. The $5 should be deducted BEFORE you click submit. Submit is the final stage.

I got a noname brand $5 pair of headphones. I don't see anything else decent for $5.

Any suggestions would be nice though.

Boo, for losing to OU. -_-
Albert and I, surrogate Longhorns, were very sad.

CHILLY?! IN THE 80s?!?! Um... *keeps comments to self*

We'll see about the pre-Thanksgiving trip. We should plan in more detail. Meanwhile, Albert's here!!!! Wheeeeee!! ^_^

Minor CNET redesigns coming soon. You guys notice anything -- or anyone -- new already?
[]

justin @ 1:43 AM [link]

"crizap"

Ouch. that UT-OU game was...painful and gut-wrenching. We got to' up from the flo' up. Just goes to show why they're ranked #1.

I think I'm headed back to houston in 2 weeks...to help out with the oh-so-wonderful Bellaire Forensic Tournament. Get to judge little freshman debate rounds.

Just curious, how's the weather in the Northeast?? It's getting pretty chilly in Austin (high in low 80's), and its only October.

*sigh* Time to use food to drown out the sorrow from the UT loss. I'm hungry

yeah my homepage is netscape so i get all those weird articles, including the texas 34 one

[]

Kristan @ 3:51 PM [link]

Hmm, instead of Texas-pride, maybe we should narrow it down to just H-town... here's why. (Meh, I still love the Lone Star State.)

Oh, and Windle, I forgot to mention that I volunteered with APhiO here too. Don't think I'll pledge, but I'll continue working with them if I can.
[]

Kristan @ 1:38 PM [link]

This is hilarious, because you have to semi-dis the person to make them happy.

But anyway, yeah, I'll say that Quentin's hotter, 'cause, d00d, in a wifebeater... *grin* Where did that come from Quentin, where?

Hehehe, no worries Olivia: (1) I'm not going for your man, and (2) you're a hottie too, but I don't swing that way.

(HI WINDLE!! YAY for you blogging, haven't talked to you in a while. And yeah, Q's right, the ac will work wonders.)

i need to pick up my paycheck
everyone around me seems to be exercising
perhaps maybe i should try it

dorm bathrooms really make you appreciate the ones you've got
the dorm ones are so small, and you can't move or put things anywhere
taking showers at a home, i was so happy to be able to walk around in the shower
(why i need to walk around in the shower is not your concern)

No fer real, I was reading that and I'm like, "D00d, what schools are they looking at?!??! Snowy Mountain Private School for the Sons and Daughters of the Rich and Elite? Send those kiddos over to good ole BHS and let's see how they do!" (Granted, I'm talking AP classes here, not cultures or something.)

And if you wanna go into work in college... well, let's just say I have the chance to sleep at midnight tonight (but I probably won't 'cause I wanna work out) and that makes me want to cry with joy. No, seriously.

NO. SERIOUSLY.

*sigh* No one take programming unless you have to. It is NOT as fun as you think it is.

And Steff, you sound absolutely off your rockers. *hug* But I love ya anyway! ^_^

" Only about one in 10 high school students does a substantial amount of homework more than two hours a night according to a separate study co-authored by Brian Gill of the RAND Corporation, another nonprofit research group. The figure has held fairly stable for the last 50 years. "

HA! And here I am, posting at this crazily wacked hour of the morn.
